Happy Monday!
It’s not often to have a Saturday off from Kar-Fre. When I have one I almost don’t know how to act. I’ve grown up working Saturdays and when I have one off it seems strange.
By pure coincidence Kyle was home for a visit this weekend and we decided to visit Chicago and see the green Chicago River.
As long as were going to see Chicago’s green river, we had to begin our trip with a Dairy Dog’s Green River Float. Kyle, Maggie, and Maddie had never had a Green River, but as you can tell by their smiles–they were a hit!
Saturday was not the pretty spring day I had planned and hoped for, but more of a chilly, blustery day and my traveling companions were concerned about getting cold as we walked around Chicago. You should also know that since Maggie is a junior she will be able to attend Sycamore High School’s prom this year. As I was driving it dawned on me that we could take a detour to the warm, inside confines of Woodfield Mall and peruse prom dresses for awhile before continuing on our trip to Chicago.
Prom sections of clothing stores are scary. Dresses in all colors, patterns, sizes, and lengths squished into spaces that are much too small. Music with a steady, prominent bass line to match the headache growing in each parent’s skull. It was amusing to see what was utterly despicable to one girl, was another girl’s dream and that as Maggie chose dresses to try on, she was guided by whether or not her dad would allow her to leave the house in them when it came to prom time. Thankfully Maddie was with us to help neutralize the stress that can come between a mom and daughter in a small fitting room and that Woodfield Mall was large enough for Scott and Kyle to wander.
I loved the color of this address and still have not learned that anytime I like something it will automatically be thrown out of contention. Next…
We loved the back of this dress, but the front… well, let’s just say there was some artistically placed sections of fabric and had we bought this dress Scott would have insisted we shop for a black turtleneck. Stay tuned the search continues…
Enough time spent shopping, the gang was starving so time for an early dinner. The favorite among the carnivores I was with was Fogo De Chao. If you love meat, this Brazilian steakhouse is a must visit for you. Flip your coaster from red to green and you’re inundated with gauchos bearing meats.
It was delicious, but I think we all suffered protein hangovers yesterday!
Finally, the river! It was GREEN!!!
Visit tomorrow when I share the story of the saggy, baggy flower cooler.
